Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the “science of life and the art of healing”, is the world’s most ancient holistic health philosophy and system that covers every aspect of well-being: health, beauty, food, spirit, sex and living in harmony with each other and with nature. For over 5000 years in India, Ayurveda has been the practical basis of treating the root causes of many health disorders and diseases, often giving a real cure rather than temporary relief. Life based on the principles of Ayurveda resist ill health, arrests premature aging and retains youthfulness.

The core objective of Ayurveda is to keep a healthy person healthy, not only physically but also mentally, morally and spiritually. Health begins with the fitness and the strength of the body, deepens to emotional stability, leading to intellectual clarity and wisdom, and through this to spirituality.

An ayurvedic massage after an intense day of diving stimulates and enhances circulation of body fluids, strengthens muscles, bones, and blood vessels; improves skin and body tone, and revitalizes the body’s self healing mechanisms. This will rejuvenate and refresh your body for another day of diving or will prepare you to better face the return home and to the working routine after your diving holidays.

Yoga

Yoga is the science of well-being. The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word “Yuj” meaning to bind or yoke. The individual human spirit (Paramatma) can secure eternal liberation (Moksa) through Karma (selfless work) yoga and Bhakti (spiritual devotion) yoga and Inana (ways of wisdom) yoga. Practicing yoga revives consciousness and the exercises rejuvenate damaged tissues and cells. Yoga is the foundation of the biological, physical, mental and emotional well-being and when practiced regularly, it is effective in achieving and maintaining good health.

The yoga offered at Zen ranges from gentle movements to increase stamina and suppleness to more energetic practice, all of which harmonize the body, mind and spirit connection through breathing, concentration and exercise. Each session is a different experience that expands your body awareness and enhances the feeling of inner peace through gentle and strenuous yoga, silent and guided mediation and dance and music therapy.

Practicing yoga is the best way to start your diving day. Your body will be flexible, relaxed and full with energy. Fine tune your body every day with a session of yoga before diving.

Meditation

Meditation is based on the principles of concentration and consciousness, without which logical and successful solutions of physical, mental, or spiritual tasks would be difficult to accomplish. All of us are confronted every day with situations that lead to worry that inhibits clear thinking towards finding solutions. A few minutes of deep meditative concentration would go a long way towards resolving the problems and worries that confront us. The resort’s tree-tops meditation terrace is a perfect location for sunrise and sunset meditation.

In order to feel comfortable under the water, we need to adapt to an strange environment. It is not always easy to do this for every individual, making the process of learning to scuba dive a bit difficult. Meditation will help you achieve your goals and overcome any difficulty you may encounter wile taking a scuba diving course.

Pranayama

Pranayama is the science and technique of controlled, regulated and effective breathing. It is ironic that we are rarely taught how to breathe as it is the basis of life since without air (Prana) we cannot survive even for a few minutes. Our lungs comprise of some 73 million cells and in normal breathing only a third of the lung capacity gets oxygenated. The practices of Pranayama are critical to maximizing the effective capacity of the lungs, the fundamental purifying engine of our body. We will train you in simple breathing exercises that you can take home to practice just a few minutes a day. We are sure that this will put you on a path of good health and well-being.

A good airway control (been able to breath and exhale differentiating nose from mouth) is the key to comfortable scuba diving. Specialized pranayama breathing techniques for scuba diving will help you to accomplish this and been in full control of underwater breathing.
