Bali Diving - Menjangan Island
Menjangan Dive Sites:
Location
If your diving Bali then this is probably the best place to go diving if you like to see abundant marine life. Lots of reef fish, amazing coral, dramatic walls and drop-offs, it's all there! It’s Blue Season Zen Resort’s top destination, together with diving PJ and it’s easy to know why it’s like that.
Menjangan Island is also an excellent place for non divers that would like to do some snorkeling in Bali.
Dive Sites - Menjangan Island
Menjangan Island has many sites to discover and it’s easy to do a three day trip. Underneath you will find some information about the dive sites you can explore with Blue Season Zen Dive.
Bat Cave
Probably the best dive site on Menjangan Island with big quantities of gorgonian sea fans and sponges and the most beautiful corals in the whole island.
Due to this dive site location (the East corner of the island), there is a bigger fish population when the conditions are right. If the current comes from the East and hits this corner head on, a great number of schooling fish will gather here looking for a higher concentration of plankton. And of course, lots of smaller fish attracts bigger fish, so expect to see here Blue fin trevallies, Big-eye trevallies and the occasional black tip reef shark looking for a quick snack! It's such a great feeling to be surrounded by fish, anywhere you look you will see something going on.
Normally, this is a dive site where you can have some current, but nothing to be worried about; just go with the flow and enjoy the ride. If the current is strong enough just hover in place and let it carry you, no swimming required!
Water temperature: At least 28° Celsius
Visibility: 20 – 30 meters
Av. Dive time: 45 minutes
Current: Moderate to Strong
Diver Level: Open Water Diver
Big stuff: White or Black tip reef sharks, Barracuda, Blue fin trevalies, Bigeye trevalies, Whale Shark!
Others: Fusiliers, Red tooth triggerfish, Schooling bannerfish…
Eel Garden
Another great dive site on Menjangan Island with a big diversity of hard and soft coral and not to forget the colorful sponges. Normally we start the dive with a great wall dive for about 20 minutes with nice coral and lot’s of small reef fish and occasionally a shark, then we come at the place from where this site gets its name. Eel garden, the name says it all. Eel’s as far as the eye can see with sometimes a big Yellowfin Tuna cruising above the eels.
We continue the dive with the reef on our right side until a point where we reach 6 meters of depth. In case we have good conditions we can continue between 6 and 12 meters watching the amazing colors from the gorgonians and sponges. According to other guests, Raja Ampat similarities or as we call it here, diving in an aquarium when the conditions are excellent! A must do dive when you are diving Bali!

Pos II
This is the place where we have lunch on a white sandy beach during our surface interval when the conditions are good. Pos II is probably the best Bali snorkeling site there is! If you’re lucky you can meet a deer while you’re having lunch!
It’s a shore entry dive where the wall starts almost in front of your nose. You can either go left or right although we like to go left (east) and dive around the corner. The wall here goes straight down to about 45 meters deep. The highlight here are the gigantic gorgonian fans in many colors and sizes. The dive brings us to Bat Cave where you can do a relaxing 5 meter/3 minute safety stop while looking for Ribbon Eels. Hundreds of bats hanging in one of the many caves will welcome you while entering the boat.

Sandy Slope
Located on the north side of the Island, Pasir Putih has in general good conditions the whole year round with no waves. Ideal site to do a PADI Discover Scuba Diving Program where you complete your skills on a white sandy bottom at about 1,5 meters depth with a lot of fish around you.
“Sandy Slope” slopes down to 50 meters. Also the coral here is in good shape and very colorful with tons of reef fish. It’s the best dive site to spot Green Sea Turtles at around 12 meters depth. Almost the whole north part of Menjangan Island isn’t wall diving but just slopes down.

Mangrove
Based in between Eel Garden and POS II. This site starts at around 100 meters from the mangrove woods. Another boat dive with in general no current. Best to do in the morning as the sun is shining on the right side of the wall to see it in its best shape. The topography of the wall is breathtaking with some overhanging, narrow entries, small caves, crevices and contours. Also quite some marine life although not as much as other sites but the wall is definitely worthwhile looking at during the whole dive!

Coral Garden
Another beautiful dive site that you can explore. Right next to the jetty on the north part of Menjangan Island. No matter that you either go east or west, both dives are great with a wide variety of reef fish and hard and soft coral. One again wall diving with the chance of seeing large pelagic such as sharks or turtles. If you’re going west you will end up at Bat Cave that we mentioned before. If you’re going east you will do a nice safety stop in between white sand and colorful and healthy coral.
